Lip Ripper — Tides & Fishing
Lip Ripper ("we", "our", "us") is a tides and fishing application developed by Ryan Roberts. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the Lip Ripper app.
Lip Ripper may request access to your device's location only to find the nearest NOAA tide station to you. This is optional — you can always search for a station by name instead.
The following data is stored exclusively on your device and never transmitted to us:
Lip Ripper does not access your camera or microphone.
Lip Ripper fetches tide predictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) CO-OPS public API. Requests include only the station ID and requested date range — no personal data is sent. NOAA's API is free and public. See NOAA Tides & Currents.
Current weather conditions are fetched from Open-Meteo, a free and open-source weather API. When weather is requested, your approximate coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo. Open-Meteo does not require user accounts and does not track users. See Open-Meteo Terms.
All moon phase and solunar period calculations are performed entirely on your device using offline mathematical algorithms. No data is transmitted for these features.
Lip Ripper offers an optional one-time purchase ($1.00) to unlock Pro features.
We do not store, process, or have access to your payment information.
If you grant location permission, Lip Ripper accesses your location only when you tap "Find My Station." It does not track your location in the background and does not access location when the app is closed. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings without affecting any other app features.
All user data (spots, catch log, cached tide data, settings) is stored locally on your device using IndexedDB. We do not operate any servers or databases that hold your information.
If you uninstall the app or clear app data, all locally stored data will be permanently deleted.
Lip Ripper is appropriate for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The only data collection risk is the optional location access for weather, which can be declined.
Because we do not collect or store your data on our servers, there is no data for us to access, provide, or delete on your behalf. You control all data directly:
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
